新平溪煤礦為台陽礦業在平溪鄉後期開採的煤坑,1965年開坑到1967年挖掘到煤層,三十年的營運,在不敵國外進口的煤價下,於1997年走入關場的命運;因為鐵道迷與許多關心煤礦產業消失的朋友鼓勵,龔詠滄先生遂著手打造成煤礦博物館,在2001年文建會的輔導下成為台北縣地方文化館成員,讓民眾完整體驗煤業歷史過程。

New
Pingxi coal mine started during the late stages of Tai-Yiang Mining
Inc. It was first opened in 1965, and first extracted coal in 1967.
Thirty years of operation was ended in 1997 due to the competitive
import coal prices.
With the help and encouragement from railway enthusiasts and other
associates that cared about the coal mine industry, Mr. Gong Yung-tsang
began his journey of creation in building this historical Coal Mine
Museum. In 2001, Mr. Gong became a member of Taipei County Cultural
Museum under the supervision of the Council of Cultural Affairs. This
museum fulfilled the nostalgic memories of those who once called the
Mines their home, and allows people of today to go back in time and
experience the history of the Taiwan coal mine industry. |

在30年採煤當中,新平溪煤礦在掘進的過程裡挖掘了許多的石頭堆成了一座高達140公尺的石頭山,館方稱它為「捨石山」由於缺少泥土與植物的抓地,在2005年的7月坍塌了一側,成為另一景觀。
After thirty years of digging, New Pingxi Mines produced tons of abandoned
rocks which eventually lead to the formation of a 140m high Rock Mountain.
Due to the lack of vegetation growth (plants and soil) to grasp firm
holds of the gravel, the side of Rock Mountain tumbled in the July
of 2005, Which created an awesome sight of which we call it “The Abandoned
Rock Mountain”. |

油桐原產於長江流域,引進台灣已有百年的歷史,主要用來榨桐油。油桐樹在植物上的分類屬大戟科喬木,台灣有木油桐(千年桐,果皮皺摺),和桐油樹(三年桐,果皮光滑)兩個品種。油桐花一年花開2季,以五月盛開的油桐花最為繽紛。
Tung tree was originally produced in Yangtze
River basin, and was introduced to Taiwan over a hundred years ago.
Tung tree belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family and its main function
is to produce tung oil. There are two main types that were produced
in Taiwan: Mo-oil tree (Vernicia Montana) which produced wrinkled
fruit peel; The other was Aleurites fordii Hemsl, also called “three
year tung oil tree” which produced smooth fruit peel.
Tung tree flower only blossom two times a year, and is at its most
beautiful during the month of May. |

距離坑口1.2公里的月台公園,當年為運煤電車的終點站,其將運煤的台車送至此,再由人力將滿載的煤推180度的彎送至翻車台進行倒煤動作,現休憩的棚架,為當年記錄車次及坑外工工作時數的辦公室。
Railway Platform Park is located 1.2km from the mine pit entrance.
It was the terminal station at that time. Tramcar carried the coal
here, and then workers transported the coal to the unloading station
to dump it out. The shelf that you see right now, was the office that
recorded cart numbers and working hours during that period of time. |

運滿煤的重車經由人力推到翻車台上,工人啟動電源,控制手搖桿,使台車翻轉180度讓煤落下卸煤斗,而卸煤斗的直徑長7.5公尺,深11公尺,可儲藏500噸的煤,煤經由漏斗落到底下的輸送帶,隨後運送至洗煤場。
Miners poured fully-loaded coal trains to
the dumping station, and then turned on the power-controlled joystick
so the station will turn 180 degrees to pour out the coal into the
funnel. Coal funnel has a diameter of 7.5m wide and is11m deep.
The funnel can store about 500 tons of coal. After the funnel, the
coal was dumped into the conveyor belt and transported to the coal
washing mill. |

這台300匹馬力的捲揚機,置於礦場開採平坑內的1283公尺處,主要目的是在斜坡上將台車拉上、送下運送用。
The Hoisting Motor was placed inside of the mine pit; it’s 1,283 meters
away from the entrance and has 300 Horsepower. Its main function was
to pull up and send down the coal trucks that were on a slope. |

杜鵑花別名滿山紅、映山紅。生命力強,既耐乾旱又能抵抗潮溼,環境適應力強,春至夏季開花。館內的杜鵑花每棵都有50年以上的歷史,春暖花開、繁花錦簇,為「春」博物館增添詩意。
Cuckoo flowers have strong vitality that can
survive under the harshest environments, including both draught
and dampness. Cuckoo tree blossoms between spring and summer.
Every cuckoo tree seen in the museum today is over 50 years old. |

當年開採煤的時候,必須將坑外的新鮮空氣打入坑內,讓礦工們能有足夠的空氣呼吸,還有氣動式的工具(如鑽鑿機、割煤機、裝渣機等)使用,所以機房具備了150匹馬力空壓機2台、100匹馬力1台、50匹馬力1部,隨著坑內工作人員的多寡,適度發動機台使用。
The purpose of the air compressor was to pump fresh air into the tunnel
and thus providing the miners enough oxygen to breath. It also acts
as the central air supply for air-powered instruments such as excavator,
coal trimmer and loading machine. The mine is equipped with a total
of four air compressors, two of which are 150hp, one with 100hp, and
another with 50hp to meet various demands of the Mine. |

這間充滿祈福的天燈教室,地上還留有鐵軌,為礦採營運時修理獨眼小僧與台車的工作室,1939進口的第一部運煤電車,比台鐵的電器化火車還要早使用,現在還能坐上這部活化石運煤電車,真要心存感激。
These original train tracks are still intact in what is now the
Sky Lantern Room. Back during the time when the mine was still operating,
these historical tracks was the very foundation of the repair center
for the main means of transportation of the mine: The tramcar. The
first tramcar used in this coal mine was imported in 1939, much
earlier than when the first electric train of TRA was in use. |

大菁,最早的經濟作物,多雨雲罩霧封最適宜大菁生長。其為藍色的發色劑,是植物染的一種,泛稱藍染,調製染液和染布技巧是藍染一大技術,而傳統生活身穿服飾的圖樣變化都是前人一項民俗技藝。
Assam Indigo was the earliest plantation in
Taiwan.
It survives best in a high moisture and foggy environment. Indigo
dyeing is the industry of our ancestors and represents the traditional
pattern and costume at the time. |

從月台公園望下看,可俯瞰整個十分寮村,下方的十分國小於民國60年初學生數有1300人之多,到了現在卻寥寥無幾,而十分車站可是整個平溪線火車唯一越月台有雙邊停靠的月台站,旁邊緊鄰的是崇光煤礦的炭場。
Glance down from the Platform Park, you can have a birds-eye view
of the entire Shi-Fen Liao village. Shi-Fen Elementary School was
established in 1971, and had approximately 1,300 students. However,
with the closure of various Pingxi mines, only few students still
live here. Shi-Fen station is right next to Chong-Guang Mine and is
the only station that has bilateral platforms on the Pingxi line. |

過去是煤產業的新平溪煤礦,經由關心的人鼓勵與建議,業者遂於民國90年改建成為台灣煤礦博物館,其館兼具了煤產業的硬體保存,亦提供了市民朋友知性的煤礦產業之旅,館區面積20公頃,有著名獨眼小僧搭乘,礦業導覽,新平溪煤礦煤產VCR,讓遊客回味再三。
In the year 2001, New Pingxi Mine became Taiwan
Coal Mine Museum. Its function is not only to preserve the history
of our mining industry, but also to provide a thorough and educational
tour to our visitors. The museum covers an area of 20 hectares.
The guided tour also includes a viewing of the New Pingxi coal mine
video, and a ride on the famous Monk Ride (tramcar). |

這建築物是將開採出來的煤經過水洗的方式將不同比重的石頭與煤分開,來得到乾淨的煤,有好品管才能交貨,剩下的小石頭即賣給水泥業者供其利用。
Extracted coals have to go through the process of coal washing. Based
on the difference in density, coal was separated from gravel during
the washing process. After washing, the obtained Coal was then cleaned
and filtered. Only the qualified Coals were sent for sale, and the
gravels were sold to the cement industry. |

經過洗煤場洗完純淨的煤,就會卸倒在卸煤櫃裡,櫃的下方是跟平溪線軌距等同的運煤斗車,運煤斗車在下方接煤,等滿載後經人力推動,直到十分車站。
After quality inspections, the cleaned and filtered coals were sent
to the Coal Dumping Mill. The width of the rails beneath the Mill
house is the same as the Pingxi railway. The tramcar was then placed
on the rail track beneath the Mill house, using man power, the final
products were pushed all the way to Shi-Fen station for their final
delivery. |

當時盛產的時候新平溪煤礦日產量達數百噸,而十分車站的電車發班次數有限,遂將多的煤放置煤炭場,等待下次運載,而當年的大空地,今成為了博物館入口處。
At the peak of New Pingxi coal mine production,
its daily production reached many hundred of tons of coal per day.
The
Shi-Fen station only had a limited number of tramcars, therefore the
undelivered coals were placed on this coal mine ground, waiting for
its delivery.
The museum entrance today was the storing ground at the time. |
